Mid Suffolk District Council Community Grants – Living Well in Winter Fund
The Village Hall Committee in conjunction with the LunchClub applied for the “Living Well in Winter Fund” and we are glad to report that we were successful. We have been allocated nearly £2000. As a village with so few facilities like a shop, public transport or a pub it is important to use our Village Hall as a community hub for warm and welcoming events and limit winter isolation which may happen for some. The fund is to be used to enhance activities we presently run, or to encourage new activities to build community.
We are using the money to enhance the lighting in the hall by adding dimmable wall lights which will add to the atmosphere for Pilates and Yoga and other Hall events. We will also be purchasing a new mobile hot cupboard for keeping food warm for events in the Hall. And finally, we plan to offer a Monthly Village Afternoon where we can provide a warm hall for refreshment and fun activities.
Come and join on 27th February for our first Village afternoon 2pm till 4pm. This event is free of charge and open to all ages. So, anyone from the village can come along. Grandparents on child-minding duties are welcome to bring children and very well-behaved dogs are welcome too. We will have a small selection of pre-school age toys available for the children, and for the adults a selection of table games and other activities such as jigsaws, or board games or table tennis. Refreshments, including a choice of cakes, will be provided and if you can’t join us for the whole event just drop in for a few minutes to touch base with village friends.
These events will be held on the last Tuesday of the month, 27th February, 26th March, 30th April and 28th May 2024.
